Pine trees along the shore at Dragonera Beach, Agistri

Dragonera Beach

Dragonera is the west-coast beach that captures one of Agistri’s best combinations: pine trees, pebbles and clear water. It’s commonly described as split between a larger and a smaller area — Megali Dragonera, usually easier and more serviced in season, and Mikri Dragonera, more natural and self-sufficient.

A reachable beach beyond Skala

This is a good choice for travellers who want Agistri beyond the main port beaches but still want a swim that feels reachable rather than remote. Routes in typically come from Megalochori or Limenaria, through pine-shaded roads and paths.

Practical tips

  • Pebble shore rather than sand — pack accordingly.
  • Outside high season, bring your own water; canteen service isn’t guaranteed.
  • Megali Dragonera is the more accessible of the two areas if you’re short on time.
  • Combine with a cycling route from Megalochori for an easy half-day loop.

Why it stands out

Dragonera is the clearest example of Agistri’s west coast: pine forest running almost to the waterline, quieter than Skala without the harder access of Chalikiada, and an easy add-on to a cycling day rather than a special trip on its own.
