Accommodation overlooking the sea on Agistri island

Where to Stay in Agistri

Choosing the right base shapes your whole Agistri trip. The island is small enough that nowhere is truly far, but each village gives a different kind of stay.

Choosing your base

Skala is the island’s most popular village and the easiest choice if you want a lively atmosphere and everything close at hand — its sandy beach, tavernas and cafés sit within walking distance of most accommodation here, from simple rooms to more comfortable hotels.

Megalochori, also shown as Milos or Myli on ferry timetables, offers a quieter alternative as the island’s capital, better suited to travellers who want to experience Agistri’s everyday village life alongside modern comfort, often with views over the Saronic Gulf and easy access to the port.

For a more secluded stay, Limenaria is small, less developed than Skala or Megalochori, and offers a genuinely traditional feel — accommodation here is limited but gives a quieter, more local experience of the island. Aponisos, on the south coast, has very limited accommodation of its own; it’s better treated as a beach to visit from Skala, Megalochori or Limenaria than as a base to stay in.

Good to know

Book well ahead for July and August, when Agistri’s limited number of rooms fills quickly. Outside peak season, many smaller guesthouses operate reduced hours or close entirely — confirm directly before planning around a specific property.

  • Skala: best for first-time visitors and travellers without a car.
  • Megalochori: best for a quieter, more local base close to the capital’s port.
  • Limenaria: best for a secluded, traditional stay away from the main tourist flow.
  • Book ahead in peak summer — Agistri’s accommodation is limited in scale.
