Rugged coastline near Chalikiada Beach, Agistri

Chalikiada Beach

Chalikiada is one of Agistri’s most striking beaches, but it deserves a careful description. It’s a natural cove on the east side of the island, reached by a path from the Skala/Skliri area, with large pebbles, clear water and cliffs that give it a strong sense of seclusion.

Beautiful, but not for every visitor

This isn’t the beach to present as universally easy. Access can be difficult, especially in heat or with unsuitable shoes, and the beach has a history of informal use for naturism and camping. The honest framing is: beautiful, natural and memorable, but not a convenient family beach in the way Skala is.

Practical tips

  • Wear proper shoes — sandals struggle with the path and the pebble shoreline.
  • Carry water; there’s minimal shade or service at the beach itself.
  • Avoid the hottest hours of the day for the walk in and out.
  • Take all rubbish with you and avoid lighting fires or camping in the surrounding forest.

Why it stands out

Chalikiada is the clearest example of Agistri’s greener, more secluded east coast — cliffs, clear water and pine right down to the shoreline, for travellers who don’t mind a bit of effort to get there.
